Sleep vs crochet

So let's start week 2 updates with the 6 feet long scarf that I made. Utilized Zoom meetings which I had to be in a listen-only mode to progress. I ended up finishing up one ball of yarn completely on this Crochet project(C-Project). I must say, I am impressed with how I have improved my consistency and the lines are getting cleaner.

I made a small ear warmer + headband and it has come out quite nicely as well. My son, who is my cheerleader, keeps staying amazed at how talented his mother is. I'll take that compliment. I must stop under-rating myself and start being thankful for these words of encouragement. So when this little bundle of love tells me he wants me to make a bag for him and specifies all the dimensions, I get my best mood on and start crocheting immediately post my Friday calls. The C-project gets so addictive that when I finished it and called it a day, it was already the next day! It was 1.30am, 2 hours past my bedtime and I really struggled to sleep after that! Woke up at 6 am and had the laziest day ever! Felt sleepy throughout the day and I could not concentrate on anything at all. Lesson learned - Do not get taken over by a hobby. Sleep is important and that should take precedence over anything else.

My next target is Amigurumi. In a way, this entire C-madness started because of an amigurumi toy that my son said he liked. Well, let's see how I progress over the next week.
Until then, Happy Crocheting!

Crochet projects in the last 1 week

You are going to see many pieces in the same yarn! Well, I am still learning, so right now invested in just 2 balls of yarn. This multicolor yarn looks so nice in any design.

In 1 week, I made a bookmark, a coaster and a mobile pouch(very uneven finish) and I am super proud. I gifted the bookmark and the coaster to my father.
I am excited with every item that I crochet. My cousin is an expert and is pouring in suggestions. I am enjoying this hobby and am able to use that time away from my phone doing this.
And made these today - morning vs evening!  Let's wait and watch to see how I progress in a year. :)

                                                      Until next time,  Happy Crocheting!

I want to Crochet!

Welcome 2021! :) 11 days into the year, enjoying the work from home and trying to find new ways to utilize my time better. So here comes the Crochet attempt! I work at a Consulting firm by the day and I enjoy writing. I feel the only way I can be true to myself and my journey(however long or short it may be), by documenting what all I had done to reach there.

As any over-enthusiastic newbie, I spent the $$$$ first!

Step 1:  I bought a book

Step 2 :  Bought the tools !

Step 3 : Nope. Didn't buy. Had some yarn from my childhood weaving kit!

Step 4:  Successfully complete the chain stitch. Disclaimer: I knew this from earlier attempts around 10 years ago!

Step 5: Attempt to do a Single Crochet

Step 6: Marvel at how imperfect it is, but you did a mini mat(?)

Well, this is the beginning. I need to make sure I do not give up. Next is the half-double crochet! Wish me luck!
